Description

Honestly Tasty’s Shamembert Wheel is is their second creation. Made with penicillium candidium and featuring a soft bloomy rind, it’s one of their best sellers for a reason! With its authentic rind and texture, it very much stands up to its traditional counterpart in taste and appearance.

Made with a unique manufacturing process and traditional cheese-making methodology, the team at Honestly Tasty have created the tastes and textures that people know and love. This cheese alternative offers a delightfully squishy, indulgent, creamy texture, paired with subtle earthy tones thanks to truffle oil.

Believed to be the first and best of its kind as a bakeable plant-based camembert alternative, it works wonderfully well when traditionally baked with slivers of garlic and herbs poked into the rind. Or for a twist on tradition, try adding to quiches, toasties, and more!

Alternatively, eat it as is in salads and sandwiches, where it can really shine. To keep it even simpler, we recommend just spreading this cheese alternative straight onto a crusty French baguette, or serve on a vegan cheeseboard with some delicious chutneys.

Storage

Keep refrigerated below 5°C.

Once opened, keep refrigerated and eat within 3 days.

Can be frozen for up to 3 months – but it is advisable to then bake from frozen at 180°C for around 22 minutes, or until golden.

Recommended Uses

This Shamembert can be eaten as is, simply add to salads and sandwiches, where it can really shine. Works very well with crackers, crusty bread, and a nice chutney – especially on a vegan cheeseboard.

To take it to the next level though, try cooking it! Preheat the oven to 160°c, lightly brush the ‘Sham’ with olive oil and place on a foil-lined baking tray, or in an oven-proof dish, then pierce the rind a few times and bake for around 16 minutes until golden. To take things further still – nestle slivers of garlic and fresh herbs like rosemary and thyme into the holes, or for a festive twist, add some dried cranberries, herbs and salted nuts. It can also be baked from frozen for around 22 minutes at 180°c.

For a less traditional method, it also works well in quiches, nachos, and even sourdough toasties, with your favourite veggies and pesto!

About the Brand

About the Brand

Honestly Tasty was created when founder Mike’s veganism clashed with his love for cheese. After much experimenting, Mike created Veganzola (affectionately known as ‘Blue’), and this, now award-winning, cheese was just the beginning! With a mission “to create delicious plant-based cheese, giving people an alternative to dairy without compromise, for the benefit of our planet and all animals on it”, this family run business now offers a whole range of authentic cheese alternatives that use a unique manufacturing process and traditional methodology. Furthermore, Honestly Tasty currently donate 2% of their revenue to The Dean Farm Trust, a community-run animal sanctuary in Wales and Cafe Van Gogh – a not for profit social enterprise in South London. As if that wasn’t enough of a reason to love them, the products are truly fantastic – with rave reviews from the likes of Huffpost, The Independent, and us, we are confident you’ll love them too!
