Allergen Policy

At Vegan Wholesaler Ltd we select and distribute all our products with the utmost care to ensure they are safe for everyone to enjoy. We hold specs sheets of all our products, where the allergen information is clearly displayed. This information is also clearly stated on the labels of each product.

If deemed applicable, we may request our suppliers to carry out an independent and extensive risk assessment and/or testing regarding the following allergens:
  • Dairy
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Molluscs
  • Crustaceans

Being a 100% Vegan food business is at the core of what we do. This is why we have a zero-tolerance Policy with regards to allergens of animal origin. To ensure this happens, we do not stock nor even assess whether to introduce to our portfolio, any products that contain or may contain traces of dairy, eggs, fish, molluscs and/or crustaceans.

All our suppliers are required to share with us the results of allergen tests and risk assessments in their specs sheets, which must include allergen information of all the products stocked by us, which allows us to ensure that these allergens are never present in our products.
We can declare that 100% of our products are completely free from dairy, eggs, fish, molluscs and crustaceans.

Gluten
All of our products that are declared as ‘gluten free’ comply with the gluten limit of less than 20ppm.
We continually review our allergen labelling with our suppliers and always ensure this is clear on our products to give you a transparent view of what’s inside.

Other allergens
​Our suppliers carry out a full risk assessment for raw materials with regards to all 14 recognised allergens listed in the Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU). These allergens are:
  • Cereals containing gluten; namely wheat (such as spelt and Khorasan wheat), rye, barley, oats
  • Crustaceans; for example, prawns, crabs, lobster, crayfish
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Peanuts
  • Soybeans
  • Milk (including lactose)
  • Nuts; namely almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts, macadamia (or Queensland) nuts
  • Celery (including celeriac)
  • Mustard
  • Sesame
  • Sulphur dioxide/sulphites
  • Lupin, which includes lupin seeds and flour
  • Molluscs like mussels, whelks, oysters, snails and squid

Selected ranges of our products declare on packaging that they are free from nuts, peanuts and/or soya.

Some product ranges may contain traces of the following allergens:
  • Cereals containing gluten; namely wheat (such as spelt and Khorasan wheat), rye, barley, oats
  • Peanuts
  • Soybeans
  • Nuts; namely almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, cashews, pecan nuts, Brazil nuts, pistachio nuts, Macadamia (or Queensland) nuts
  • Celery (including celeriac)
  • Mustard
  • Sesame
  • Sulphur dioxide/sulphites
  • Lupin, which includes lupin seeds and flour
